• Biodynamic Sericulture Projects
To support its production with reliable organic silk yarns, the company has developed 3 biodynamic sericulture farms since 1998, with a total investment of over 8 millions RMB.
- SABA
This is the first project of its kind over the world in growing mulberry and harvesting silk cocoons in a biodynamic way. In 1998, Dr. Julius Obermaier (Demeter Advisor from Germany), Prof. Li Zhengfang (IMO Representative from China), and many mulberry experts gathered in Jiangyou City to assess the feasibility of a biodynamic sericulture project. Right after this event, SABA was founded with a cultivation area of 20 hectares.
- Zitong
As the sister project of SABA, Zitong Biodynamic Sericulture Farm was founded in 2001 with the constructive advise from Prof. Andrae Stephan (colleague of Dr. Obermaier). This project covers a cultivation area of 50 hectares. With the organic silk yarns yielded in Zitong, the company succeeded in its first expansion of European market.
- Shitou
In Yimeng mountain regions of Shandong Province, silk industry was as early started as hundred years ago. It was not until 2002 that the sericulture in this region was united for uniform biodynamic production. Mountain peaks, slope fields, old mulberry trees and various bushes combine into a beautiful landscape of nature. With a plantation area of over 500 hectares, Shitou represents a promising prospect of both the company’s and the country’s organic silk industry.
